Dr. Dan Sheaffer, the former pastor of Crossroads Cathedral
(AG) in Oklahoma City, known for effectively raising millions for AG missions and AG higher education, passed away Thursday.
Jimmy Morgan, an oyster fisherman from Louisiana, had his house and boat destroyed by Katrina in 2005. Hundreds of church groups, MAPS teams, Convoy of Hope teams and volunteers headed to the region to help families like the Morgans get back on their feet.
Experts are predicting that India will become the most populous country in the world as soon as 2020 — the India Assemblies of God plans to have 25,000 new churches planted by the same date.

Chi Alpha has appointed Crystal Martin as new
ISFM (International Student Friendship Ministries) director, making her the first woman to serve in a national Chi Alpha
staff position. As ISFM director, she will lead an ISFM work
team to plan events, develop resources, conduct training and minister to the
international student community.
Chi Alpha recently held several SICM (Student Institute of Campus Ministry) events. More than 200 students received training to assist Chi Alpha leaders.
The World AG Congress to be held February 6-9, 2011, in Chennai, India, is now offering eight different tours of key India cities for attendees to consider — including a tour to the Mumbai Teen Challenge.
More than 550 people
participated in the Ambassadors In Missions outreach held at National Youth
Convention in Detroit. Detroit area pastors and ministry teams made
preparations with Convoy of Hope for these AG teenagers to provide a powerful
time of ministry.
Although it's been eight months since the earthquake struck Haiti, the country's need for help is still prevalent. Since then, Convoy of Hope and AGWM have been able to provide 9 million meals and distribute 4 million pounds of food, water filters, hygiene kits and other supplies to Haiti due to more than 4,500 AG churches' donations to the AG relief fund. Part of Convoy's three-year plan for Haiti is to continue providing those supplies, as well as expand their feeding initiative to 45,000 children each day.
The National Association of Evangelicals, which represents
40 denominations including the Assemblies of God, has embarked on an initiative
exploring practical and realistic approaches to curtail the number of abortions
in the nation.

Brenda Spina, an AG minister and co-director of the Center
for Family Healing in Menasha, Wisconsin, has lost several of her immediate family
members over the last several years. She knows from experience that grieving is
a necessary part of healing. Christians can help those suffering by assisting
them and ministering to their needs. "God is deeply touched in the presence of grief,"
Spina says.
The third Influence Conference will get underway on Thursday, September 16, 2010. It's deemed the premier leadership event offered by the Assemblies of God.

The Assemblies of God Center for Holy Lands Studies, which launched
earlier this year, provides educational and interactive encounters with
biblical worlds in the lands of the Bible with tours, resources and a Summer Institute.
General Superintendent George O. Wood announces the launching of the Transform America Campaign. The campaign plan is to raise $15 million to help plant 500 churches over the next three years — with the initial investment being perpetually reinvested in new church plants.

students from nine AG schools dedicated eight weeks of their summer to the 2010
European Missions Experience. Students traveled to one of eight locations and
were matched with nationally appointed AG missionaries to participate in
diverse forms of ministry.

When Nathan De La Garza, 16, participated in his youth
group's One Month Challenge to carry his Bible with him everywhere, he was
given an unexpected trip to the principal's office — but soon he gained
attention from the press and his classmates, which gave him an opportunity to
share his faith. As part of Detroit 2010, Student Outreach Director Steve Pulis
issued the One Month Challenge to students nationwide.
September 15 is the deadline for filing an application for an AG Next Generation grant. Last year, 23 grants were awarded to graduates of AG schools to assist with their school debts.
